Visas & Immigration
🇪🇸 Spain to End Its Golden Visa Program
Spain has decided to end its Golden Visa program, with the final application deadline set for April 3, 2025. This decision has been reported by multiple sources, including El País, Spain’s largest and most influential newspaper, and legal experts like KPMG. The move comes amid growing concerns over real estate speculation and housing affordability.
So, if you’re considering relocating to Spain through the Golden Visa route, act now to submit your application before the deadline.
🇹🇼 Taiwan Has Launched a Digital Nomad Visa
On January 1, 2025, Taiwan officially launched its Digital Nomad Visa, allowing remote working professionals to stay in the country for up to six months. The visa is available to individuals from countries eligible for Taiwan’s 90-day visa-free entry, with income requirements of US$20,000 (or its equivalent) for those aged 20-29 and US$40,000 (or its equivalent) for those 30 and above, based on annual salary earned in one of the last two years. As an alternative to meeting the income requirement, applicants can provide proof of having obtained a digital nomad visa issued by another country.

🇨🇦 Canada to Reduce Immigration Numbers Starting in 2025
The Canadian government has announced plans to reduce its immigration targets over the next few years. Specifically, the number of new permanent residents is set to decrease from 485,000 in 2024 to 395,000 in 2025, 380,000 in 2026, and 365,000 by 2027. The change aims to address housing shortages and ease pressure on social services.
Consequently, obtaining permanent residency through Express Entry, family sponsorship, and provincial nominee programs will likely become more competitive.
