The H-1B lottery numbers put a hard edge on your competition density argument. USCIS received roughly 780,000 registrations for 85,000 slots in the FY2025 cycle — an 11% selection rate before the interview even starts. That's the quantified version of "more candidates, same funnel." What's worth noting is that this creates a selection bias toward candidates who reduce employer uncertainty in other ways: prior in-country experience, existing work authorization, or niche specialization that makes the sponsorship math obviously worth it. The paradox is that as the candidate pool globalizes, the winning strategy becomes more local — building visible, verifiable signal in the specific market you're targeting rather than applying broadly from anywhere.
